So I had every intent on blogging each Monday of break. As you can tell, it did not go so successful. Since my last break, we have had two large snow storms, one of which fell right over Christmas. This left us stuck at home with just the five of us ( two parents, and two sisters) which was quite eventful. My parents got my sisters and I a Wii, and a few games to entertain us. With a few calls to home to disappoint family members we settled in with a cup of hot coco and the good movies we had opened at 5am. YES 5am. Steph made sure that we were still kids at heart, and got up before the Sun. I on the other hand stayed in bed, until it became life threatening. I figured that once the mattress was going to fly five feet from the top bunk where I was resting it was time to spring out of bed. We all sat in our spots, and mom gave her yearly lecture. "This year we will open one at a time, and others will choose which present you open." This drove me nuts. You see I open small to big. My logic was the biggest was the best! This has not always proven great the past few years, but some years it did. After opening presents, we then took a nap. After a family nap session the afternoon was filled with movies. :)
The next week pasted with little events to speak of, other than me hopping in my uncles Probe. Which for those of you who don't know, is a very small "sports" car. We rode together to Wausau, and stay there for the night. The next morning, I stayed at the hotel and swam, watch Dog the Bounty Hunter. My grandma showed up at about Noon. After I was picked up by Grandma we made our "Tour of Aunts". We started with Great Aunt Grace, who had just redone her floor, and her living room. The LR was done with crown modeling, and a fantastic new bookshelf. It looked amazing. She also served us a great meal. ( assuming I am used to College Mensa food.) A chief salad, and few other odds and ends of left overs. After some great chats we were on our way, and stopped by Great Aunt Lorienes house. This is were our trip got both more interesting, and awkward. Dr. Phil was on talking about teens, and there sexual act in order to fit in to today 's groups. My grandmother, went off on a tangent, to which I could only hold my tongue. My Aunt had great things to say. Sometimes I wonder where my grandmother got her personality. I guess I can't speak, I speak my mind too. After about an hour, and a call from my Great Great Aunt we were on our way to the last stop before heading back to Rhinelander. We stopped by the Assisted living place my G. G. Aunt Sophie lives in, and the afternoon was filled with many laughs, and enjoyment of the afternoon. By far the best stop of the afternoon. I haven't laughed so hard in a very long time. She talked about residence of her place, and the many stories she has in countered in the last few months of living there. Lets just say I will never be able to name my dog Mitzy. My G. G. Aunt Rocks! She is old 92!
After arriving in Rhinelander, we sat around, and some great home cooking. My cousin Mike, who is currently living in my Grandmothers basement and I started a fire, so that the basement would be warm when my parents got there. They let me play with fire! The next morning was filled with more visits to my cousins house who just bought a house, and the adventures that go along with it. I played with his dog, and made me want one so much more! I am ready to own my own place for a dog! Then we went shopping for food to ring in the New Year. Which is always good! We brought many salads home ( not all green, hehehehe). Then talked, and played a few games. I brought in my New Year with conversations about family, with my dad. ( Not exactly the way I wanted it to be brought in). The next morning we went over to my Aunt Cheryl's house had my mom made Eggahawk ( an egg gravy, take my advise it is good). We then exchange gifts with that side of the family, and then went back to my grandmothers house to visit then my parents left to head back so my dad could get back to work. I decided to stay and visit a little bit long with my grandmother, and family. Saturday I took my Grandmother to Tomahawk, and visited my Aunt Beth and her family. ( again two dogs were a highlight here). After getting back to the we sat and wait for Mike to get home, watched him make a pizza and invited the cousins over for a game night. YAY for making Memories :)
The next morning my A. Cheryl came and picked me up, and we went to my favorite church. Trinity in Rhinelander. It truly is home to me. For me it doesnt matter that I leave in Iowa/ La Crosse. Sermon was great. Music was amazing. No tears this Sunday. It was hard walking into the church, due to the fact that it was my first time walking in there since my grandma had pasted away a year ago. After Church we went to my Aunt Cheryl's house to wait for my A. (Char)Main to get there. While waiting we watched the movie UP. I enjoy that movie to much. I am a sucker for a good kids movie. :)
The trip home was uneventful, other than it was in the dark. With many phone calls to family it made for some great conversation, and looking for many bathrooms along the way. Got to love little bladders.
Those my friends are my highlights this far, and I go back to school in about 3 day. Sunday 1/10. To return for an inservice and a X-mas party for my college friends. :)
